2 Seats Under a 60” Table
In our research, we heard from architects, designers, and educators about the challenges they face trying to fit larger scaled active learning furniture into classrooms that are simply undersized. To help maximize these limited spaces, the most used 2 student table is typically 60” wide. While most active learning chairs cannot fit between the legs of these tables the 360 Chair was designed to fit perfectly without compromising comfort or agility.

Numerous studies have firmly established that body movement significantly affects students’ health, emotional well-being and performance. New research shows a strong correlation linking the act of allowing students movement during academic instruction with greater “on-task durations,” enhanced executive brain function, memory capabilities, and higher energy levels. The 360 chair was specifically designed to comfortably accommodate a 360-degree range of movement to allow a student the freedom to move throughout the school day.
Flexible Back Design
In our research, we found that micro movements when seated were just as important to the user as being able to change their posture. Most active learning chairs on the market have a fixed static back. Overwhelmingly, students and teachers alike asked for flexibility in a chair back. The 360 chair has been designed with the perfect degree of flexibility in the back to allow for these critical micro movements.
Contoured Back Design
When developing the overall concept of the 360 Chair, we paid special attention to the back design. In addition to the comfort that comes with flexibility, we also wanted the back to support a wide range of postures. We also challenged the design team to consider the use of digital devices and how the back design could more comfortably support them. Whether sitting side saddle or in the reverse position, students can feel comfortable…and be more engaged.

Wall-Saver Design
Considering student comfort is only part of the 360 story, numerous features have been incorporated into the chair design that are facility and staff-focused. Teacher / facility driven design features like the wall saver design and multiple options for storage of the chair off the floor are just as important as improving student engagement.
Storage Made Simple
When book bag storage is limited or non-existent in a school students are often forced to place their book bags on the floor by their chair. This creates multiple problems both spatially and from a cleanliness perspective. The simple design of the 360 chair solves these problems. With convenient storage underneath the seat or hanging off the back of the chair the students belongings are close at hand and out of the way.
